The lonely server guide to PvE7.

Introduction

This guide was written to introduce players to the sights of PvE Revision 7.

It is not meant for players new to Minecraft. It assumes you know the basic principles of the game.

Travel in PvE

PvE does not allow players to teleport, so all travel must happen via in-game means. This has resulted in the extensive development of transit networks, primarily consisting of roads, rails and nether portals.

Road

Roads link many places in PvE, and some are fairly scenic. PvE7 is 6k X 6k blocks, so road travel can be fairly time-consuming. Where available, speed potions are highly advisable, as is an ample supply of food.

Nether Portals

In PvE7 there is a central portal under spawn, as well as 4 cardinal portals, and two "secret" portals. The cardinal portals provide a fast way to travel towards the N,S,E and W edges of the map. The secret portals are located in the NE and SW of the map. Most of the portals are linked to the spawn portal by rail in the nether.

Rail

Rei's minimap

Rei's Minimap[1] is approved for use on PvE and is used by many players for navigation. It provides a small overhead view of the world, as well as the player's current co-ordinates and direction. All the cardinal directions given in this guide correspond to those reported by Rei's Minimap.

Getting out of Spawn

Spawn is located right in the center of the server, and is the location that new players first join the server. Spawn manor itself is well worth a visit, but this section of the guide is focused on helping you get out of spawn and around the rest of the server.

Your first priority should be to get some food. Spawn has several public farms. Head straight out the front entrance (facing South). On the right there is a public wheat farm, and a melon farm above that. Harvest plenty of food for your journey, and remember to replant.

After you get food, you need to get tools. The hardest part of this is locating trees to cut down. There is a public tree farm located near spawn. Head out the main door, and turn left. At the first intersection, turn left again. The tree farm is slightly ahead on the right.

The next item you need is a minecart. PvE players are usually generous, but most do not appreciate players begging for minecarts. Ore quantities have been increased from default on PvE7, so obtaining iron is not difficult. However, the area around spawn is densely populated. It is much easier to find areas to mine if you use the nether portals to head away from spawn. The nether is well traveled, so roads there are safe even for newly-started players. Head downstairs from the middle of spawn, and then walk across the map room. There is a waterfall here, walk through it - the spawn portal is hidden behind it. After arriving in the nether, turn around and follow the north road. It is a short walk from here to the North portal, which exits in Rack City. Rack City is also worth visiting, but our focus for now is obtaining iron for a minecart.

From the Rack City portal, head due West along the road, with the wheat farm on your right and the rail station on your left. Exit rack city, the area ahead of you is mostly unclaimed, and an excellent area to start mining for iron.

The Northwest

Darco

Darco is not so much a city as a group of related townships in the Northwest. Darco proper is centered on Darco Terminal, which links to the Darco subway system.

Getting There

Darco can be reached by rail from Wellspring(North express rail) or from Venice (West Portal).

See
Darco Terminal

Darco terminal is one of the larger train stations in PvE7 in terms of above-ground area. It consists of a single nave dominated by sandstone and accented with wood and smoothstone.

Darco Municipal Building

This building stands just South of Darco terminal, and reflects Darco terminal's theme with a heavier emphasis on stone. Unfortunately the inside is rather barren; most offices remain unfurnished and unoccupied.

Wellspring

Getting There

Take the North rail express from Spawn. The journey is about 4:30, and travels along a 1400 block diagonal rail.

Wee Britain

Wee Britain is a quirky caricature of American stereotypes of the U.K. It has been perpetrated by European players as a reminder that whilst the server is US-based, the player base is diverse and comes from around the world. The build quality in Wee Britain is higher than average, and features typically British buildings such as tea rooms.

Getting There

Wee Britain is a short walk south of Darco Terminal. There is also a rail connection to Wee Britain station from Darco Terminal.

See
The Blimp

While not strictly part of Wee Britain, this large blue and white dirigible dominates the bay west of the town area.

Woodville

Woodville is a wood-themed subregion of Darco. The building code is generally centered around heavy use of wood, which has mostly been respected in the buildings' facades. Most buildings tend to be private residences of medium to large size. There is a tendency to mark buildings on the outside according to their function, which is helpful for navigation but sometimes appears somewhat garish.

Getting There

Walk from Darco Terminal. The subway to Woodville is under construction. Exit Darco Terminal from the South and turn right, a massive sign inscribed with "Woodville" should be straight ahead.

See
Woodville Tree Farm

Woodville's tree farm is situated along the main road, on an elevated area with a commanding view over the rest of the town. It features 4 floors, one for each tree type, containing about 30 trees per floor. There is a nice view of Darco Terminal on the third floor looking east.

Another Woodville Tree Farm

This farm is located slightly further into Woodville. The large bay windows provide an excellent view over the Woodville area, but the view is somewhat damaged by the skyrail under construction, which has a terminal in the farm's roof. The rails have been constructed free-floating and appear very utilitarian, which somewhat damages the overall image of the area.

JackInYourBox's Keep

This private residence is an excellent implementation of the wood-based concept of the area. It features a small tower attached to a 2-storey villa, framed in oak wood with pine accents.

Do
Eat

There is a public farm at -2300 -1900 which is well supplied with wheat.

Getting Out

The Woodville rail system is largely incomplete, your best option is to walk to adjoining areas in the Darco region.

Normostrath

Normostrath is a small town located on the periphery of Woodville. Access is by a simple wooden road leading through reasonably untouched swampland. This region is relatively uninhabited, so much so that it is not uncommon to find wild sheep.

Getting There

Normostrath does not have rail connections, the best way to reach it is to walk from Woodville, on the West road out of Woodville. The path is poorly lit and may be dangerous at night. The main road into Normostrath from Woodville actually leads to a back region of the town; continue north to find the town hall.

See

Normostrath is a fairly small town. The wood and stone theme has been enforced, giving the town a quaint and charming appearance. There are no megabuilds here, but the area has great character and has great potential for further development.

Do
Eat

There are food farms located north of the town hall. Confusingly, their entrances are not on the same street as the town hall, they are located one street north. The wheat farms are private, but the melon farm is piston-harvested and can be activated by visitors.

Getting Out

Normostrath has a working CARTS, but no rail connections at the moment. Your only option is to walk.

Southwest

Pico

Getting There

Take the nether to secret portal #2, or take the South express rail from spawn. The nether route is generally faster.

Deorne

Deorne is a mid-sized town situated in a snowy biome, with a primarily wood/brick theme. Streets in Deorne are named after subreddits. The entire town is surrounded by a wall with functional piston doors. Deorne's tree-lined avenues are amongst the most elegant of PvE7.

Deorne features one of the most advanced street lighting systems, with automatic day/night detection. It is also host to a sizeable testificate population. Deorne also has a light transit rail system that travels around the periphery of the town, with rails inside the town walls themselves. The light rail is only moderately useful for visitors, as it is clockwise only, and only stops at each town gate, plus one stop at the central rail station.

Getting There

Take the West express from Spawn station. The journey is just over 5 minutes. You will arrive at Deorne's underground intersection, and there is a rail line to the surface.

See
B.A.M.F

The Deorne BAMF (big-ass mega farm) is located outside Deorne's east gate. It is a massive facility, each floor having an area of 2800 blocks. The finished version will feature over 20 floors, running from bedrock. The original plan called for 16 floors for sheep, 2 for cows, 1 for pigs, and a large top area for jungle trees.

The BAMF is a private facility, and can only be visited with assistance from the Deorne townspeople. Deornites are generally friendly, so it is worth asking for a tour if any are around.

Spleef Arena

The Deorne spleef arena is unusual in being located underground. It can be accessed via the Deorne LRT, which runs from the Deorne rail station. The spectator galleys look across the playing field into a glassed-off ravine, with spectacular water and lava cascades. The arena is FISA-sanctioned, and features a 25-diameter playing field and piston-operated starting gates.

Do
Combat Arena

Deorne features a mob combat arena in the Southeast part of town. The venue is decorated with ores and other rare blocks. It features a standard viewing galley, as well as an overhead viewing path. In the small tower above there is an enchanting table. The arena floor features a glass dome over a ravine, and a small enclosure with a captive golem.

Use of the arena requires several players, as the mob spawning system is located some distance from the arena. The fighter's entrance is a must-see, as it features moody lighting with creeper faces carved into the walls.

PvELotto

Deorne hosts a branch of the PvELotto, with the building located just opposite Deorne train station. PvELotto runs weekly draws with participants from across the whole server. Instructions for participating are provided inside the building.

Getting Out

Deorne has direct rail links to Pico, Spawn, Temple of the Stone Creeper and the 850 loop. Rail links to Port Iremia, Seneca and the 1700 loop are under construction.

Argoth

Getting There

Take the nether to East portal, or take the East express rail from spawn. The nether route is generally faster.
